The Taffeta dress has been worn by many well-known celebrities including; Jackie Kennedy, Princess Diana and Grace Kelly.
Crisp and smooth, taffeta wedding dresses are perfect for brides-to-be looking for a light-medium weight gown that is super flattering. Often used for pleats and ruching, they enhance your shape and create a fabulous silhouette.
They traditionally have a sturdy handle that holds its shape better than many other fabrics, making them easy to work with and popular for high end wedding dresses.The dress has lots of 'body'.

You can gather it or pleat it and it will hold its shape; 'A' line shapes work beautifully too. Big full skirts will not be overly heavy and make such an impact!”
Coloured Taffeta fabrics are yarn dyed which means that the colour is derived from the combination of the warp and weft yarns during the weaving process in India, rather than from being piece dyed afterwards.
Colour woven fabrics quite often have a "shot effect" compared to a "solid" colour effect as would be expected in piece dying. With two-tone or 'shot' colours, otherwise known as 'changeant', the colour cleverly changes as the fabric moves.
Available in a variety of styles, Taffeta is made from silk or synthetic fibres. The stiffer the Taffeta, the better its quality. Rich for winter and light for summer, this adaptable fabric can come in many colours and sometimes appears iridescent due to the weaving process.
Resistance to creasing can be improved by interlining with silk organza.
